Tara Meyer is an International Pole Champion, Cirque Du Soleil Artist and Owner of VogueFit!
I loved to perform, spin, and jump from a very young age. I don't remember a time where movement wasn't a part of my life. I received my first gold medal at age 5, competing in figure skating, from that moment on, I fell in love with performing and wanted to learn, new movements, whenever I had the chance. I began taking a jazz and lyrical dance class because of the pretty costumes they got to wear at festivals. I practiced every spare minute I could (when I wasn't at dance class, I would dance in my room until I had to go to bed). I even pushed my bed against the wall so that I could sleep with my legs in a straddle split resting against the wall" to become more flexible. At the young age of 12, I decided to quit skating and devoted myself to dance. I was accepted into L’École supérieure de ballet du Québec, (an elite ballet school in Montreal) and by the age of 16, I was dancing in Europe at the Princess Grace Academy; Ecole de Danse Classique de Monte-Carlo. My passion became my professional career; leading to many awards, scholarships and named: "Canadian Female Dancer of the Year". This title lead to Princess Cruises offering me a position, as a feature dancer, where I worked for five years, dancing all over the world. During this time, I was trained to perform on the Spanish Web and Aerial Silks, which started my interest in aerial arts.
Within a year of returning to Canada, I discovered pole fitness when I watched a workshop conducted by World Champion, Jenyne Butterfly. Watching Jenyne perform, that day, changed my life. After two months of intense training, I entered the Canadian Pole Dance 2011 competition, and was extremely happy with my final results. By 2014, I was representing Canada in the IPSF World Pole Sports Championships, where over 150 athletes from 30 countries competed. I've been blessed with competing in many competitions in Canada, the US and internationally and continue to push myself and strive to be the best I can be.
After winning the OG Ms. Pole Fitness Olympia Championships, I was blessed to be contacted by Cirque Du Soleil and offered to be their Pole Soloist in the show Rebel, in Andorra, for the summer of 2019! It was a dream job, and changed my life!
I am delighted to be a sponsored X-Pole Athlete by X-Pole, an XPERT Pole & Aerial Instructor, and the proud owner of VogueFit studio.
I thank you for visiting my website. I hope you find your passion and make it your life.
